Portofino question. I just found rates there for $199 a night, which is amazing! That may sway us there instead of CBBR.
My concern is the mini fridge.. For anyone who has stayed there, were you able to get the fridge emptied? And was there a cost to it? I've heard it's $30 a night to have an empty one brought in.. There's no way I'm paying that..

When we stayed there the fridge was locked and it was our understanding that there was a charge if you wanted to use it. Given we were there for 3 weeks there's no way we were paying for it!
It is an amazing hotel.

It looks like an amazing hotel! We've always wanted to stay there, but the price has never been remotely doable. I do wish they just had regular fridges though.. I hate the mini-bar thing and my hubby is notorious for picking up EVERYTHING, then I get left to deal with the front desk about it! I usually end up telling him to sit on his hands lol
We wanted to stay at RPR but the cheapest room available was $270+. Figured at $199 this was the one chance to stay at PB without having to sell organs before the trip!

Had wanted to share my experience regarding our last stay at Portofino, but kept forgetting to do so.
We stayed there last September for HHN and booked through AmEx travel. I had received one of those vacation books that they send out and saw that was one of their participating hotels (the only one at UOR).
I looked up rates online at the UO site and made notes and then called to see what rate they were offering. They were very helpful at AmEx and the rate was exactly the same as through the UO site. But, the perks made it totally worth it to book through them instead. It included a complimentary room upgrade, $100 food and beverage voucher, and free breakfast for 2 for each day of the stay. The breakfast was at Trattoria del Porto and was over $50 value each day. They gave us a welcome fruit bowl, complimentary waters in the room each night, and turn down service. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Definitely worth checking into if anyone has an AmEx.
