I have a few places that we tend to eat at every trip which are outside Universal; My favourite to eat when on holiday is definitely Millers Ale House - We have been to two Millers Ale House one is near Disney on South Apopka/Vineland Road and there is one almost directly outside the Universal parking garage on Kirkman. My favourite thing at Millers is the Zingers Mountain Melt, it is heaven! Zingers are the signature dish of Millers and are boneless wings available in loads of flavours, the Mountain Melt is fries topped with cheese, bacon and zingers. Millers also do very nice Steaks that are reasonably prices and also a great CheeseSteak. Very few of you except Dan_Mol will probably know who this is, but I always remember in 2014, going to the Millers near Disney to have some food and watch a Chelsea game and we happened to get sat a table near former Arsenal player Paul Merson! My second favourite place to eat was a new entry last year - 4 Rivers ; it is amazing! It was the best BBQ I have ever had! Highly recommend it to everyone! ChuckPlagmann introduced us last year to another very nice sports bar/restaurant in Gators. Gators was brilliant for us watching the Chelsea game before an OCSC match. It did delicious food, especially the Gators signature "Scooter Wings". I had Gator tail for the first time it was very nice and the CheeseSteak was great! As I absolutely love Buffalo Wings, another of my favourite places to eat outside Universal is Buffalo Wild Wings. B-Dubs does delicious wings at great prices. Last year we went on an NFL Sunday it was brilliant; we had a range of wings spread throughout the games, sides and could watch all the NFL games simultaneously! Another of my go tos is Charleys CheeseSteaks at the Florida Mall Food Court. I love Philly CheeseSteaks and Charleys in my opinion anyway does the best in Orlando! We also always make sure we go to IHOP every holiday for breakfast or also in my case Country Fried Steak.

I am rather ashamed to say that, apart from the Meetup at Tin Roof last year, the only places we have ever eaten outside of the Parks is Dairy Queen and a breakfast buffet place on I Drive ! We shall rectify that this year!

Downtown Orlando on Church St, there are a lot of restaurants & bars. We ate at Hamburger Mary's in February but there are several more we want to try.

ChuckPlagmann mentioned that to me, when I tweeted from Teaks. I can't wait to eat there again, but Hamburger Mary's is on my list. I will post it up here at some point. We love/d Bubba Gump. I've been to the UK one twice and wasn't overly impressed, our last visit to the Orlando one was also slightly disappointing. Jan was first time we've walked passed it and never gone "we must eat there" sadly.

Maybe not everything on the menu is equally good, that's possible....as I always take the same I wouldn't know

Teak Orlando - Times Sq Orlando Tin Roof - International Drive Cheesecake Factory - Millenia Mall Fogo De Chao - International Drive P.F.Changs - Millenia Mall One I have been meaning to get to, and still haven't had chance is 4 Rivers Smoke house 4 Rivers - Various locations Of the list given, I favor 4 Rivers. By far the best barbecue in town. It was also started by locals, I believe and a portion of their proceeds go to a charity if I understand right. So that just adds to their character. Fogo De Chao is a great steakhouse also. I prefer Texas De Brazil but that's just a matter of opinion, not quality. Some additions I would say are Copper Canyon and Chuy's. Copper Canyon is a small franchise and is categorized as American Cuisine. the food is amazing, made in-house and from scratch, they have a full bar(also, one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had in the area! Only 2nd to Stefano's) and their service is excellent. The gf and I have gone there for our anniversary for the past 3 years now and anyone we've recommended to go has never came back with anything negative to say. Chuy's is Tex-Mex. They go a little overboard with the theming but you end up loving them for it. The food is good, the price is affordable and the portions are great as well. I typically get the Big As Yo Face burrito with bean and cheese and top it with something called Boom Boom Sauce. The mixed drink selection is decent also. I'm not 100% on if they have a full bar but anytime I've walked by it, it looked that way. They also have a Nacho Bar that has a free happy hour on certain days between 4p-7p. Both of these are on International Drive. Copper Canyon is in Point Orlando and Chuy's is just after Ripley's. The only downside with Chuy's might be that it's a shared parking lot that has a ton of overflow from other establishments, most notably Mango's. So if you're driving there, it might be a bit crowded. Otherwise, walking or taking the I-Trolley is fairly easy and might be the better option.

I'd love to visit Downtown Orlando - never been. Would anyone know what the transportation options from on-site hotels would be to get to the Downtown area?

I think the only actual options would be a tour bus or a taxi. You may be able to take a city bus from the Universal Drop-off area but I mean, those would be the only choices I'm aware of.

Future Boy Hey, I just looked up that Old Fashioned. My whole posse drinks Manhattans. That old fashioned is right in the same vein! Thanks for mentioning it. Gonna have one, or two, tonight. With Manhattans, I say that one-and-a-half is enough; more than that and I end up in danger of speaking in tongues!

Not too Far East on I-4 10 miles maybe, only worry would be traffic.
