Disney once again is hiking up prices. A-HUH! OH BOY! MORE MONEY!That was the first article I could find. Apparently they had "record-breaking attendance" according to another source. They even quoted one of the reps they spoke with saying "Guests keep on coming!" in address to the price hike. Very similar to their "guests speak with their wallets" statement previously. Speaking as a fan of the theme parks, it does amaze me the level of fortitude it takes for a statement like that to be made publicly. It's the PR version of "We do it because we can." In their defense, what they should be saying is "Well. Due to costs of bringing new attractions, which add further value to the tickets, as well as other factors; this is why we have to raise the prices for our admission." The rebuttal of "Well don't you charge more than enough" will be stated regardless. I'm just wondering at what point will it be guest-breaking and they start the "speak with their wallets" that was referenced during the last hike in price.

Just thought I would throw this here instead of creating a new thread. Has to do with fast pass. My good friend is at the parks this week. Staying off-site so they were not able to book fast passes until 30 days before. None left for FOP. I'm reading about lots of people staying on-site, with a 60 day advance, who could not get fast- passes for it either. I guess when you have over 26,000 hotel rooms on site, the perks dwindle. I just don't know if they will ever be able to fix this problem. But it sure is a fortune to go, and a year later folks can't get on what is supposed to be one of the best rides ever created. A few weeks ago I saw lines that were 4 hours long for stand-by. How can folks stand spending that much to get in, and then spend half their day in line? It all just feels so awful. My friends are going to try to rope-drop to try to get on FOP. This week used to be slower years ago. I'll let you know how they make out. I'm hoping for all their sakes (6 airline tix, 6 sets of park tix, food, lodging, you all know the drill) that they get on. OK, done with this rant. It just makes me crazy. Oh, and I didn't mention that these friends of mine have been going to Disney, yearly, since its maiden year of 1971. They are experts. But they still can't crack this code.

Candy McIcicles I was trying to remember tricks that I had read about Fast Pass/FOP. One of them was to refresh on the time constantly. There was another that said to try on the day of your visit between 10:32 and 10:38 am, because Disney releases passes every day. They also said it might help to have a "dummy" FP, and to keep trying ( constantly) to modify it. There was also a remark about breaking up a large group into smaller ones. I googled it to see if anything had changed, but the same hints are still there. I don't know if any of these ideas are valid, but I hope your friend and fam get on the ride!

I heard the constant refresher works the best. It's a mixture of both Disney releasing FPs every day and guests either having to change their plans or just skipping it entirely.
The fiance and I were able to snag FPs for us awhile back on a random day we just decided to go (perks of APs in action, I suppose).
If you haven't been, I wouldn't say it's the best ride ever. However, I would say it is a pretty darn cool version of Soarin'.

Future Boy I haven't been, but all reports are so positive. I actually have free tix and some fast passes that are supposed to trump all other passes for one day. Just don't know when I'm gonna get there. Tix are good for like 20 years, thank goodness.

I lucked into FastPasses for Flight of Passage for our October trip last year by employing this method. With the FP, it cut our wait to about an hour. I know there were others that were in line for over 3.5 hours to experience the same thing. In my opinion, the "best ride ever" moniker probably belongs to The Mummy. Or E.T., if I'm feeling nostalgic. But FoP is soooooo cool! WAY better than Soarin', if you ask me.

Just don't know when I'm gonna get there. Tix are good for like 20 years, thank goodness. You should at least experience it once. I try not to influence and impede other people's experiences but I will say it's absolutely worth seeing what the hype is about. I heard the constant refresher works the best. Or E.T., if I'm feeling nostalgic. But FoP is soooooo cool! WAY better than Soarin', if you ask me. What we did was like, the night before The Fiance just sat and refreshed for like, an hour or so I think, while we were sitting at home. She got them for around 1p if I recall and we just went. The standby wait was 5 hours at the time and it took us a matter of about 20 minutes. #score I honestly don't know what I'd name as "Best Ride Ever". There are some pretty awesome rides all over the country, let alone in Florida. If I had to peg best consistent overall experience, I would tie it between Spider-Man and Manta. Spider-Man was and still is a highly innovative simulator using tech that hadn't been utilized before and the experience has consistently been a great one for me (I know Transformers basically finessed it, but I'm also biased as a comic geek for the theme). Manta, while the ride itself isn't an unheard of design, is unique within the state and I continuously experience the same....emotions? I suppose emotions is a good enough word. Put simply, neither ride has lost its luster for me thus far. Concerning FoP, like I said, I'm going to try and refrain from influencing other's perceptions just because as highly opinionated as I am, I'd hate to basically ruin what would have been their favorite ride and take that away from them. What I will say, aside from everyone needs to experience it at least once if given the chance, is that the technology used within that attraction is by far some of the best I've seen for that ride's design. The HD quality and the overall sensory experience (pay attention to your seat as you're riding) is incredibly well-done and while Soarin' has never been anywhere on my list of faves, objectively it has nothing on FoP.

I see they are starting MNSSH (or whatever it is) MNSSHP August 17th. Crikey that's early. My kid wanted to go but I doubt we will but by mid-September the prices are already climbing. 10 and up pays an adult price. . . I suppose but to me, 10 is still a child. 13+ should be adult. Whatever. That'd be $250+ for 3 of us to trick or treat. . . .which is why I say no and head to HHN instead (well, one reason). The candy has gotten better from the first time we went together, I'll say that.
For the Christmas party you just get an oversized cookie? Those start at $105!
Not much longer before Universal raises its prices, either, with the hotels being added and more so, the 4th impending park. At some point, some people are going to say, I just can't pay this anymore. I hope it's not us but wow. Uni held off awhile after we started going but they seem to be steadily increasing.

August is way too early to start anything Halloween. I get the excuse of "well what if our family can't make it during the Halloween season?" like what we'd hear back during the times of Tuna Zombies but if you can't make it, you can't make it. Sorry. That excuse is just that and it only goes so far. I didn't make it to when they had HHN in both parks and I'm a local. It's the one HHN I never got to attend since I've had the ability and knowledge to go and it will literally never happen again. Getting back on topic, I'm no traditionalist, but the Halloween Season doesn't start in August. We're literally still in the summer but Disney is so desperate for money with their openings that they're scrounging where they can to earn that extra flow back. While I do agree that, at some point, people are going to say "enough's enough" and not go on their annual trip to see Mickey; I don't think that's coming any time soon. The unfortunate truth is we'll keep coming and they even said that as long as we keep coming, they're going to keep doing what they're doing. "Providing a great experience anyone can enjoy, FB?" "No, fam. Just for those who can pay for it."

It's ridiculous. It's greed but there will always be the 1%, followed for example by those that can stay at the Grand Floridian for a week, but there will always be those with the money and those willing to put themselves into debt for it. We're not the latter (or the former).
