Discovery Cove has announced a new evening meal separate from the day passes. $35?/adult, $19/child...buffet of sorts with dolphin activities before dessert...seems like only Saturdays and schedule only til April or May up so far...smaller groups seated together at bigger tables... I thought Discovery Cove cost of attendance included food for all day that you were there? Hmm. I'm surprised to hear this

I thought Discovery Cove cost of attendance included food for all day that you were there? Hmm. I'm surprised to hear this I believe the standard Discovery Cove package only includes Breakfast & Lunch. Therefore looks like they've now added a 2 hour evening meal experience for $65, which includes a dolphin show. Also it's a seperate product, as you don't need a Discovery Cove ticket already, you can just attend the nights. Attractions Magazine reviewed the experience here - attractionsmagazine.com/new-paradise-nights-at-discovery-cove/

Discovery Cove is an all inclusive park, food, drink, towels, snorkelling equipment, sun tan lotion.
Food is served all day, breakfast and dinner until just before park closes.
All you need to bring is yourself.
This however is a separate event after the normal operating hours. All day guests leave and park reopens for the evening.

Dan, MattLynch91 and Krista I really like that it is a separate option, as I think a day a Discovery is very pricey, no? I mean, it's a dream world and if you have the budget for it, it's a go. But nice to have a separately ticketed item for an experience there. Very good to know. Thanks guys!

Can become expensive if you do the dolphin swim. It’s also available as a none dolphin swim, benefit of a nice quiet environment, food and drink, etc it’s still an awesome day. Indulgent yes, but would highly recommend it.

Krista I agree with Dan_Mol . I went to Discovery Cove years ago, and I really liked it. I loved the dolphin swim. They were very mindful of the dolphins. We had to wait until a later time (for the dolphin encounter), because the dolphin wasn't agreeable at the time. I really appreciated the care they had for them. It was expensive, but I really enjoyed it. Do your boys like water, snorkeling, etc.? They used to have a large pool area. It reminded me of the Beaches and Atlantis resorts. We also had free tix to Sea World as part of the package.

We also had free tix to Sea World as part of the package. I think we'll enjoy it a lot. They both love snorkelling and swimming underwater. N2 is concerned that he can't swim "great" so he doesn't want to swim with the dolphins but was excited about feeding the rays. N1 thinks he can swim much better than he actually can, and wants to swim with the dolphins...I just hope he doesn't chicken out once we get there. I would've prefered the ray feeding and sent M to the dolphins but I let him choose, and he chose rays leaving me with the dolphins. They'll love choosing snacks and food and feeding the birds. I can't wait. Wish we could afford a cabana but it's a couple hundred dollars each far as I could tell in addition to the admission...$800+...unless I read it wrong. (ALSO, I hope I don't chicken out. M and I went to Cuba for our honeymoon and had the opportunity to swim with dolphins - but chickened out at the last minute and just watched the little show from the dock.) [ I would much rather be in the water with dolphins than rays. But it all sounds fabulous. If that really is the price for a cabana for 4 I would have balked and passed on that hard!

Krista I asked to "swim" with the dolphin closer to the shore area. They let me do it. That might be an option. I guess you can always ask. I really enjoyed the whole experience. I hope you do, too!

Beachesnsunsets Dan_Mol Can you remember if you wore swim shoes or went barefooted? Some reviews say wear swim shoes because of the rocky bottoms of the natural pools. We have sandals and flop flops (but don't want to lose the flip flops in a current, esp with animals that might eat them amd get injured). I seem to remember swim shoes with the rubber soles didn't drain well or dry fast, but the sandals seem really bulky and would they even let us wear sandals in the water?? I guess wear what we would wear swimming in lakes and the ocean?? If you have them take them. We just used flip flops. I normally just left them by my sunbed as I hate wearing them, the concrete and sand was stupidly hot so I did look silly running to water!

Krista That was a good question. We wore swim shoes and brought flip flops. Took them off in the swimming pool. The water shoes we had drained well. I'm sorry I can't remember the brand. I wish I coulld! Probably got mine on sale somewhere I called Discovery Cove and asked about the current rules. They said flip flops are only permitted on the walkways. They recommend water shoes. Water shoes can be worn in all pool/water areas ( including dolphin and snorkle areas).

So for anyone going to Discovery Cove this year, there is a promotion on right now with the premium drinks add-on package included for free with a reservation. September is the cheapest...$195 for a day pass (no dolphin swim) and 14 day admission with parking to SW, Aquatica, and BG. That includes all you can eat, drink, sunscreen, snorkels, goggles, wet suits, towels on your day at DC. Gone up like everything else in recent years but that's a pretty good considering the Sea World, Aquatica, Busch Gardens ticket with parking. If I was to return I would probably do a Discovery Cove day without the swim, nice to just get in, relax and enjoy a slower paced day.
