I renewed our on 19 August and they didn't expire until 30 September. So glad I didn't wait!

Probably a dumb question, but asking anyways. Can you upgrade the season pass if you want to at a later date, and can you get into the HHN special preview place where we purchased blinky cups with yummy alcohol in them with the season pass? I don't want to not hang with you guys. For the 3 of us it's $185 more to get the Power pass. Can't decide if it's worth it or not. Anyone can register for the AP hold, even seasonal if you purchase that so you will get in if you register on 9/6 but as always no discount for APs on alcohol.

Im starting to look at tickets etc for September (yes i know I am ridiculously early but i am impatient as hell for these trips).
We had to let our Aps expire last years (wah!) and so are having to start from scratch again (wah!)
I had forgot all about the season passes. Now technically they will do us fine as we will not be at Uni during the blackout dates. I read the other places guide to APs today and they said something which has put me off it now - and that is that Uni dont really consider it an AP.
Does this mean that you dont get the discounts that you get with the power passes that we had before (Im thinking HHN tickets, the passholder benefits during September such as the discounted My Universal photo thingy). The Uni site says you do get discounts but Im wondering if its at a much reduced level.

Looks like the block out dates and lack of EPA are all holding back Seasonal from Power Pass, and a slight discount on parking. Should still apply to AP rate for discount for HHN tickets and also the hotel discount. The photo pass doesn't look like it has a discount but there is a special rate online but only for 1 and 3 day passes. There is no percentage off for Power Pass, either, DH has preferred so we can get the 10% and also use it for parking.
Hotel would be a decent savings and then the HHN ticket, decent price since the black out dates don't apply. I thought about switching ours to Seasonal, too, but with M having summers off, getting out of school and whatnot in the year, we kept them as is.
They are offering some kind of 3 months additional time to the AP's, I'd get after someone to throw that in for you since you are spending $$$/£££ over 3 week's time total.

That sounds right Merry McSparkles Grimes Rob has the power pass, I had the preferred, and all the kids and his parents have the seasonal pass. His parents are able to get the hotel discounts, but there are no discounts on merchandise or food. They usually park at the hotel so don't know all the UO parking details. I let my pass expire in October. I was back and forth about doing so. I knew I wouldn't be coming back until February the earliest. So, now (next week) I need to purchase a new pass. I heard about the 3 extra months, but I can't seem to find the info anywhere if they will give you the 3 extra months on a new purchase, or just if it's a renewal. I also heard this was just for Florida residents - not sure if that is true either. Does anyone know?

Cathleen I just called and they said it's temporary, to basically try to get more people in for Mardi Gras and is only running for renewals and those that expire by April (beginning or the end of the month, I didn't ask). He said it was for all passes, Florida and non-resident. DH is talking about letting ours expire but I hate to lose the discount on the renewal. . . seasonal as I said isn't really ideal for us with those block out dates with a child. The package deals look decent but you can still certainly get better deals where you can offsite (save a lot of cash) or even going at the right time. Maybe it's me but Uni prices and also renewals are getting a bit complex.

Thanks Merry McSparkles Grimes! My pass expired 4 months ago so I guess that wouldn't worked for me anyway. I wasn't sure we would be going in February this year and our next trip is usually in May or June so when I did the math, it made sense for me to let it expire. Now since we are going in February, it would've been cheaper to renew. Oh well - Maybe I will get lucky next year as my pass will expire next February and it would be awesome if they ran this 3 month extra deal again!

Cathleen I asked, will I get this deal when August comes around and he said likely not but there's no way to say. I'd love to have it near mine, would cover going into Christmas time. The renewals basically "pay for themselves" after 2 visits but sometimes you don't always know when you're going, so what can you do. It's a tough call, especially as the price increases. Huge difference from when we bought AP's, I think maybe 4-5 years ago now?

You are right, they don't always include the three months (sigh). I renewed my son's annual passes last year as a gift. I also thought we would be going to the parks. You hate to let them lapse, but it can be expensive. I asked about the three months, and they didn't offer it at the time. I did add VB to their passes.

I'm thinking the 3 months thang is to get people in during a "slow" time in winter/school. They'll start to get busy once March comes with spring break coming and Easter then by May, it's on.

Thank you very much for the info ladies - that's really useful.
we get enormous discounts on the hotels with BA booking as a package, so im not worried about the hotel discounts (I am more pissed off at the fact that in 3 years we have spent 9 weeks in Loewes hotels, and by the end of the year it will be 12 and we do not have a single loyalty point to show for it, as you only qualify if you book direct).
The Photo Pass offer has been part of the AP Month thingy they do in September. I think they do it for $50.

Welp, looks like no need for me to call Uni! I wouldn't have been able to do it tonight anyway, as I'm leaving for DS's winter concert. He's feeling better, so we will go. Hope the high school doesn't have a problem with the fact that he wasn't in school, but he'll be there tonight. I don't think anyone will notice.
