For those hoping for a final ride you better get it done before HHN. Word is that it is closing early. Don't know what will be done with it but people I trust to know agree that it is closing by mid September Just saw this on Twitter earlier also. I really hope it's not the case or not as imminent as some believe. I will be gutted if I don't get to ride it in September for last time. For Orlando standards it's a superb coaster and it is in my top 3 favourite rides at the park! Hopefully it's open come September 22nd!

I love universal but I also love real roller coasters (not screens or indoors) and I would hate to see this go before I could ride it again!

Now what to replace it with I think the only thing that actually would please and not annoy me, would be another world class rollercoaster. I love Universal and I love coasters. All brilliant theme parks have world class Rollercoasters. If Dragon Challenge goes then you just have Hulk left (Rip Ride Rockit isn't brilliant). Universal does them superbly, but can only have so many "screen" based attractions. If it's a launch coaster that shoots riders off into the Forbidden Forest, that would work and still keep it a coaster.

Never been a huge dragon challenge fan, excitement went after they stopped duelling.
So much room back there they could do something insane. Coaster or not.

As when it duelled, I thought it was even better than Hulk. But since it no longer does, dropped down in my estimations, but still a great coaster. That's a good point about the plot. It is a massive bit of land with plenty of potential.

Would be cool to do something re: Forbidden Forest or even Hagrid's hut. I'm a little sad it's getting shut down. I imagine it was cool to ride it while dueling!

Now what to replace it with How about a terrain following flying coaster themed to the Centaurs?

Now what to replace it with It's finally happening!!!! You just know it will be mind-blowing! Something to look forward to:-). Makes me soooo happy. I was looking forward to Kong, but this is another level of excitement entirely!!!!!

Rode Dragon Challenge for the first time this last trip- glad I did, if these rumors are true! I liked it ok but won't be overly sad to see it go.
Hmmmm, could this be part of making room for the rumored Ministry of Magic?! Will be fun trying to guess what they have planned.

Mu kid is disappointed about this, one of her very favorite rides. Will there be an announcement as to when or it will just be shut down one day?
I think Ministry of Magic was rumored, if it happens, to be over near Fear Factor. Probably time for that to go. That would make the Diagon-Ministry flow better. Being DD is in Hogsmeade, it's gotta be something Potter.

Imagine will be some announcement, most get a closing date. Jaws, Disaster, Twister, to name a few. Hulk got a date. I don't see them rebuilding Dragon Challenge. I recall years ago, before HP waiting 60-90mins for it. Hasn't had same appeal since FJ opened. That's the appeal for most.

On reflection, agree, due to location and drop in popularity year on year, it's right to close DC and replace with something HP be it FF, MoM or something else. I just hope isn't another "screen" based attraction, it needs to be something that is amazing and breaks boundaries for a theme park, not just another ride in front of a screen.
I'm more annoyed that they are closing a thrilling world class coaster, over the actual fact it's DC. It leaves only one big coaster left at Universal and I totally get Universal is a "theme park" and not an "amusement park" like Six Flags. But I (as well as many others) absolutely love coasters and are my favourite thing about theme parks ride wise. Due to this I have albeit controversial opinion that Dragon Challenge is my third favourite ride at UOR (after Hulk in 2nd and Forbidden Journey top).
Fingers crossed keeps dragging out so that it is still open come 23rd of September which is first day will have chance to go to IOA, even if is just for a day. Whatever happens I'm sure the replacement will be something awesome, which of course with it being Universal I have absolutely no doubt that it will be!

Completely agree with everything you said Matt. Wouldn't be said to specifically see DC go but I will be upset that we are losing a big coaster. Even though it's not the best coaster it still gives a little something to universal. I will be upset with a screen replacement as well. Those are being done a million times and I know they're a good use of space but still. Also yeah please be open to ride one more time before I get there !

The whispers are that it will be another coaster but like always it is just rumors til it actually happens. There is enough room there for a couple of things
